James Innis, DVM – Veterinarian

Dr. James Innis studied at Cornerstone University for his pre-vet coursework and went on to receive his DVM degree from Michigan State University in 1984. Dr. Innis loves cooking, hunting, camping, beekeeping, canning fruits and veggies grown in the Innis Garden, traveling, reading, and many, many other things. Dr. Innis and his wife have a wonderfully large family and recently added a wirehaired pointing griffon named Raina to the team.

Susan Schoen, DVM – Veterinarian

Dr. Susan Schoen has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1986 after receiving her DVM degree from Michigan State University. Dr. Schoen has two dogs, Nutmeg and Poppy, who love to keep her busy/ She loves painting (she is an amazing artist), reading, traveling, and going on walks with her pups.

Sarah Pick, DVM – Veterinarian

Dr. Sarah Pick grew up in Grandville and attended Grandville Public High School. She went on to study at Trinity Christian College and eventually received her DVM degree from Michigan State University in 2013. She has been practicing veterinary medicine at Grand Rapids Vet Clinic since she graduated from MSU. Dr. Pick and her husband have a Great Dane named Meeka and a cat named Mango. Her hobbies include biking, playing sports, and chasing around her two-year-old daughter. She also loves ice cream Snickers bars and anything with peanut butter.

Janae Seneker, DVM – Veterinarian

Dr. Janae Seneker is our newest veterinarian at GRVC. She received her DVM degree at Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Her hobbies include reading, hiking, and exploring new coffee shops in Grand Rapids. Dr. Seneker and her family have two beagles, Stanley and Stella, three fish, and one snail.

Marcia – Veterinary Assistant / Receptionist

Marcia is the most tenured staff member at GRVC, having started here in 1993! She started working as a veterinary assistant right out of high school in 1971 and has loved working with exotics her whole life. Marcia and her husband have four birds, two guinea pigs, a leopard gecko, and a freshwater fish tank. She loves reading, drawing, miscellaneous artsy stuff, and absolutely LOVES the X-Files!

Alex – Clinic Administrator / IT Administrator / Wearer-of-Many-Hats

Alex started volunteering for GRVC (at the time, Weisner, Innis, and Schoen) in 2010. He was pre-vet and a veterinary assistant until 2017 when he took his current role. Alex has been growing and maintaining bonsai trees for fifteen years and will talk about the subject to anyone willing to listen. He likes spending time with his family, riding bikes, working on his car, and listening to music. Alex and his family have three cats, Kitty, Cookie, and Nigel.

Kelly – Receptionist

Kelly worked in human medicine as a receptionist for 20 years prior to working for GRVC. She loves reading, rock hunting, playing with her pets, and trying to beat her son at video games. She has a dog named Pookah and a cat named Kanan. She loves music, Star Wars, and The Hobbit / Lord of the Rings.

Brooke – Receptionist

Brooke has been working for GRVC as a receptionist since 2021. She holds a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration. She loves horseback riding, reading, hiking, and snowmobiling. She and her family have a dog, Wiley; two cats, Boo and Rio; and a horse, Belle.

Mary Kay – Receptionist

Mary Kay blessed us with her presence in 2020 and has become part of the family in a few short years. She enjoys camping and fishing.

Sydney – Receptionist / Veterinary Assistant

Sydney is the newest member of our team and has already proven to her a go-getter! Prior to GRVC, Sydney worked as a preschool teacher and as a nursery worker in a greenhouse. She loves hiking, swimming, kayaking, gardening, collecting rocks along Lake Michigan, playing with pigs (and other animals, of course), and CAMPING! 

Laura R. – Receptionist

Laura has been a veterinary technician and receptionist for over 20 years and has an educational background in early child development from GRCC. Her hobbies include kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, biking, and camping!
